Long gone are the days of pencil thin barely-there brows. A fuller more defined brow is in and we couldn’t be happier! Brows are the main framing point of our faces and let’s face it, perfectly groomed brows are like an exclamation point to beauty! At She She our esthetics team has over 30 years combined brow shaping experience, so naturally we think most women should throw away the tweezers and leave the artistry to an expert. Here are some insider tips for achieving and maintaining brow Nirvana.
- PAIN VS. PLEASURE- Repeat after me. BROW SHAPING IS AN ART! Cheap does not always mean quality and any real brow artist will consult with you before they ever think about smearing wax on your most prized facial feature. So stop playing brow roulette at the quick stop places and find your regular brow gal. Waxing will then shift from a painful quest full of disappointing mishaps to something out of your fave fairy tale. True love and hope and all of that stuff!
- BE REALISTIC- If you are a victim of your own over plucking and have been rocking the permanently surprised look for several years then you shouldn’t have great expectations. You can’t go from 1930’s ultra-thin Marlene Dietrich brows to fuller Brooke Shields brows overnight. Perfection takes time, honey! We always recommend you allow your brows to grow out for a couple of weeks before your first waxing or shaping, which means you will have to lock away your beloved tweezers.
- MAINTENANCE IS THE NAME OF THE GAME- Rome wasn’t built in a day and rarely are perfect brows. In some cases it takes a few months to grow, shape and trim your way to brow Nirvana. Once you find your perfect shape, then regular brow touchups (we recommend every 3-6 weeks) will allow you to maintain groomed brows.
- DON’T BE SCARED TO USE TRAINING WHEELS- If you are not naturally blessed with full and defined brows, which 90% of us are not, then don’t be scared to supplement. There are many awesome products on the market to give a girl a little brow “umph”. The number one way to add definition to groomed brows is to add a little color. Expert tip: Do not think for one minute you can Candyland shortcut your way from step 1 to step 4. Adding color to a fuzzy mess will just highlight bad brows. Make sure you have your bases covered before you starting adding color. With so many highlighters, pencils and powders on the market how do you chose the right one?!!! Patience, dear friend. We will cover that in part deux of Brow Wow 101.
